A motivated employee is a valuable asset to any company. Therefore, maintaining staff motivation is critical in every business.

A motivated workforce is goal-driven. And it, therefore, works better toward achieving the mission and vision of an organization. 

Motivated employees embrace the challenges and overcome them. They also work for the challenges they might face tomorrow.

The employees’ motivation, therefore, should be emphasized as much as possible.

Although employee motivation is essential for any organization, many organizations still lack it.

The one thing that CEOs today are most concerned about: absence of motivation within the employees. And, thereby, they are distressed with their workforces more than ever before.

As per one report, some 71 percent of the employees are unsatisfied with their workplace. It also reveals that only one-third of the employees are satisfied with their jobs.

With that said, several factors lead to building and increasing employee motivation. Read them below:

1. Purpose


Purpose lies within the very heart of employee motivation.

As mentioned before, the motivated workforce is goal-driven. The goals, for this reason, shall be clearly defined. The purpose of the employee in any organization should also be clear from the very first day.

With the goals defined and a clear purpose, an employee is more likely to be motivated and productive.

So now we know what purpose the ‘purpose’ serves itself.

Communication with the employees is necessary for developing a sense of purpose.

The employees shall be made clear about the impact of their work for a company through communication. They shall also be aware of how their efforts contribute to the betterment of the company.

Employees shall also be made clear that their part of the work, certainly, affects the company. And their work can have positive and negative effects on the company’s growth,

And all that is possible by making frequent communications with the employees.

2. Alignment:

It makes sure that while achieving individual goals, the employees also meet the company’s goals. 

It means that the personal growth of an individual should also result in the growth of the company, eventually.

Alignment, as like the purpose, involves communication essentially. 

One of the traits motivated employees have is that they communicate with their managers frequently.

When employees communicate to their bosses or managers, their individual and organizational goals become and stay aligned.

However, have you read the recent Gallup report? It reveals that only less than half of the overall employees have their goals aligned with their company’s goals.

3. Feedback


Feedbacks are the ears for employee motivation.

When you provide continuous feedback to the employees, it helps them to stay on the course of productivity.

However, if the feedback is to amend things, it shall still be constructive. And it shall also be without hurting one’s esteem.

Importantly, negative feedback should not be given publicly, for obvious reasons.

The positive feedback, on the other hand, when provided publicly, increases employee motivation. And it motivates the workers to keep up the fantastic work. It is psychology.

4. Open communication

Being able to communicate openly, motivates the employees in achieving individual and organizational goals.

Naturally, with the efforts recognized, the employees stay motivated.
